Porcelain veneers

Dental veneers can correct stained, chipped or crooked teeth and can help give you the smile you have always wanted. Made of a translucent ceramic material, veneers are applied to the front of the teeth and are virtually indistinguishable from other teeth.

Dental veneers are very thin, about 0.3mm to 0.5mm, and they are bonded to the front of your anterior teeth. Once bonded to your teeth they are very strong and give a strength, beauty and durability that only porcelain veneers can give.

Veneers have a number of advantages over crowns. You do not get a dark line that you sometimes see with older front crowns and the veneers transmit light better, giving a far more translucent, natural appearance. Veneers also do not require the large amount of grinding of the tooth structure that crowns do, yet they give a very life-like result.

During the consultation with our dentist about your veneers, we will discuss the changes that you would like to make to your appearance and smile. We will explain the various options available to you, the procedure itself, and the risks and limitations.

We will begin with a complete medical history and a full examination of your teeth and gums. We make also take some photographs and give you specific instructions about how to prepare for the procedure.

Future veneers

Future veneers, or lumineers, are a new type of ultra thin veneer that are as thin as a contact lens. Very little preparation of the teeth is needed to fit future veneers and they are extremely versatile.

Future veneers will greatly improve the cosmetic appearance of your teeth and can help restore a healthy winning smile and give you your confidence back.

Teeth whitening/teeth bleaching

Teeth whitening, or teeth bleaching as people sometimes refer to it, is extremely popular and is a great way to get a brighter looking smile.

There are many reasons why teeth get dark: genetics, aging, consumption of staining substances such as smoking, tea, coffee, colas etc…, tetracycline (antibiotic) staining, excessive fluoride, as well as old fillings. You can use whitening toothpaste to remove any stain that is on the outside of your teeth, which dentists call extrinsic staining. However, whitening toothpaste and dental cleanings by your dentists will not change the colour or intrinsic staining of your teeth. This is what tooth whitening/tooth bleaching is used for.

Tooth whitening can last indefinitely, but most patients like to touch up the results once or twice a year. If you do not touch up the whitening your teeth will start to restain.

Teeth bleaching is not recommended whilst pregnant or breast feeding.

White fillings

Composite white fillings are an alternative to silver (amalgam) fillings and can be used in all teeth to give a beautiful and virtually invisible result.

White fillings are used for cosmetic reasons; by patients who prefer mercury-free fillings, and by patients who have sensitivity to heat or cold: the composite resin fillings don’t conduct temperature changes as quickly as silver or gold.
